Sub-Zero Repair in Lochleven, Bellevue

When the door alarm on a Lochleven Sub-Zero keeps sounding with the door apparently shut, the door is the suspect before the electronics: something is holding it a fraction open, or it closes without sealing. Closed is not sealed

A door can touch the cabinet and still stand off its gasket. A door bin riding high, a panel edge brushing the cabinet beside it, or food pressing on the inside of the door each stops the last fraction of travel. So does a unit set level with the cabinetry rather than the floor. Sub-Zero’s installation guide names that one directly: the unit is levelled to the floor, because levelling it to the cabinets can affect how the door closes.

What an owner can change

Sub-Zero gives owners of current Designer units control of the alarm itself: it can be turned off or back on at the options screen, and the settings screen changes how loud it is, its pitch and how long it lasts. Silencing it is not a repair. The gap is still there, and room air keeps finding it.

A second sign travels with this fault. When a door has been left ajar, Designer units turn the interior lights off to limit heat, and Sub-Zero’s guide says to keep the door shut for an hour. Lights that are still dark after that hour are a service item.
