Drawers under a panel or a stainless face

On a Designer over-and-under, the lower part of the unit is made up of drawers beneath the tall door, and the PRO models carry freezer drawers as well. A Designer front holds a custom panel; a PRO front is stainless. Sub-Zero caps a custom drawer panel at 15 lb, so a heavy front is one of the first things we look at.

What stops a drawer short

We rule causes out in the order they are cheapest to find.

  • Contents. An item standing proud of the basket can meet the cabinet frame before the front reaches its seal.
  • Reseating. Sub-Zero’s guide sets a storage drawer back on its slides by hooks at the rear and white pegs at the front. A drawer put back after cleaning with a peg out of its hole can run crooked and stop short.
  • Level. A cabinet tipped forward or back changes how every drawer runs, and the installation guide ties correct levelling to fewer door and drawer adjustments.
  • Gasket. A corner folded under itself holds the front off the frame by its own thickness. We fold it back and test it on the strip; one that will not stay flat is replaced.
  • Slides. Checked last, for drag and damage, with the drawer full and empty.

For the model and serial we open the upper drawer of an over-and-under and read the tag on its left, inside the cabinet; a PRO carries it left of the freezer drawer, the upper one on the 48-inch model. Work starts once a single price has been agreed, and the $89 service call is credited against it. Lake Hills, Phantom Lake and West Lake Sammamish are covered from the same East sector.
