Freezer Drawer Front Out of Line With the Door Above

Reading the misalignment

The shape of the fault says which adjustment it needs.

• A gap wider at one end than the other. The front has tilted. Level is the first suspect, then the side-to-side position of the panel on its mounting screws.
• A front standing proud of the door panel, or set back from it. That is in-and-out, one of the two cam movements on the drawer brackets.
• A front sitting low, with the reveal above it opening up. That is up-and-down, or a drawer carrying more weight than its slides and brackets were meant to hold.

Where the drift comes from

Sub-Zero’s installation guide wants the cabinet levelled to the floor rather than to the cabinetry beside it, and warns that getting this wrong can affect how the doors close. A unit set to match a sloping counter, or a floor that has changed under it, moves every front at once.

Bracket screws come next. One that has worked loose lets its front creep.

Then the panel. The guide caps each drawer panel at 15 lb. A thick front with applied moulding, or one faced in stone or metal, can pass that, and the extra load shows as a front that sinks over time.

How the front is set right

The fronts are aligned with all three closed, as they were at installation. Sideways movement comes from shifting the panel on its mounting screws and tightening them. Height and depth come from the cams: the bracket screws are eased, a wrench turns the cam, and the screws are snugged down again. A cabinet out of level is corrected at its legs, never by forcing the cams to hide it.

Beside a neighbouring unit

What Sub-Zero publishes for two cabinets side by side is the gap between them: the dual installation kit, or where no kit is specified a filler strip no less than 2 inches wide. A front drifting toward its neighbour is brought back at the panel screws and the cams, never by closing up that strip.
